OPPORTUNITIES
The Society for Neuroscience offers a number of grants and awards through Chapters. To obtain these awards, individuals must apply through their chapter; each chapter is allowed to submit one nominee for each award. To be eligible, one must be a member of MiSfN, but you do not need to be a member of SfN.

The following awards are available:
Chapter Grants
Grants of $500 to $2,000 to support chapter activities that advance SfN's mission, including outreach, advocacy, and professional development programs. Our chapter has been routinely successful at obtaining these.
Trainee Professional Development Awards (Travel Grants)
Trainee Professional Development Awards are presented to deserving young scientists who demonstrate scientific merit and excellence in their research. These awards provide those in the early stages of their career the chance to present a scientific abstract and to meet and network with senior scientists at the SfN annual meeting. These are graduate student awards; the chapter has been successful in obtaining these.
Next Generation Award (application information here)
The Next Generation Award recognizes SfN chapter members who have made outstanding contributions to public communication, outreach, and education about neuroscience.One award is given at the predoctoral/postdoctoral level and one at the junior faculty level.
Recipients receive a $750 travel award to help defray the cost of attending SfN’s annual meeting and a $300 honorarium. The recipient's chapter receives a $2,000 chapter grant to be used to continue the chapter's outreach efforts in the following year. The SfN president presents the awards at a lecture at the SfN annual meeting.
